Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Hunters in the Snow. 1565, oil on canvas. Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, Austria.
The apple-stars have gently dropped to earth
And settled in the trees, stars you can taste
Which shine on tongues in the night-time of the mouth;
As he and she make love there is
A fresh apple-smell on their breath
Which grows an orchard in their house through which they walk
As one and freely pluck and eat the starry juices.
